There are media reports indicating that the GSU and other volunteers had
secured the mall by Saturday afternoon and managed to pin the terrorists to
some sections.

KDF then came, stormed the mall, and in confusion, shot dead a GSU
commander, resulting in a standoff between the police and KDF.

Both teams then pulled out. The terrorists spent most of the weekend
roaming the mall in a "sangfroid" manner(as they tweeted) looking for
survivors and collecting hostages, before taking over and securing a
vantage are of the mall.

By the time KDF stormed the mall again, the terrorists had an upper hand.
