There are media reports indicating that the GSU and other volunteers had secured the mall by Saturday afternoon and managed to pin the terrorists to some sections. <div><br></div><div>KDF then came, stormed the mall, and in confusion, shot dead a GSU commander, resulting in a standoff between the police and KDF. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Both teams then pulled out. The terrorists spent most of the weekend roaming the mall in a "sangfroid" manner(as they tweeted) looking for survivors and collecting hostages, before taking over and securing a vantage are of the mall. </div>
<div><br></div><div>By the time KDF stormed the mall again, the terrorists had an upper hand. <br><br>On Thursday, 3 October 2013, Ngigi Waithaka wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">

By the time Abdul made it from Yaya Center to Westgate, on a Saturday which should probably take an hour, cops had not even engaged the terrorists. <div><br></div><div>Lastly, the terrorists were busy butchering the hostages in the most savage way, and throwing out parts out of the windows. An executive decision to end their suffering needed to be made, and I guess someone did just that and we got ourselves 3 collapsed floors and the dignity of our fallen ones intact!</div>
