Good morning,
Further to Jane's proposal there is also a need to redefine the role of the
Kenya Film Commission with regards to local content.
KFC ought to be tasked with promotion and facilitation of development of
local content. A fund administered by KFC ought to be created to fund the
creation of local content.
Levies for filming activities charged by KFCB ought to be waived for local
producers to incentivize local producers.
The Government should consider giving tax holidays to investors willing to
fund local film productions and maybe waving duty taxed on filming
equipment to support the industry.
As it stands right now the responsibility of local content promotion has
been left to the broadcasters through the local content quotas. KFC's only
support has apparently been the purchase of 10 cameras.
Kind Regards,
Lynette
