@Brian Ngure,
This is super useful! Many thanks. Like Muraya, I have been long suffering
in silence to the degree of considering switching networks.
I notice that Safaricom does not promote such features vigorously to the
general public and only a select few super users know about them. I am sure
the motive for this is clear. This is a pity because it would save them from
the many Customer Service calls they have to contend with.
However, even with this "hack", I think we will do well to take note of
Muraya's point and monitor if indeed there is airtime pilferage going on. I
for one think it is unethical to quietly continue deductions even when the
network can ascertain that a subscriber is no longer using a service; I am
sure they have ways to know this.
I am sharing pronto with my FB circle. Again, many thanks.

Subject: Re: [kictanet] Safaricom Credit Disappearing
Hi Muraya,
I have found that in most cases this happens because someone subscribes to a
service and then forgets that they have done so. They then find their credit
"magically" disappearing. Try dialing *100# then go to option 7 and check
what services you are subscribed to and unsubscribe from there.

Hi,
How does one stop Safaricom credit disappearing?
Many of us have noticed it does not last even when data is disabled.
Have resorted to loading 50 bob only to limit credit disappearance.
Forgot and loaded 100 bob (not 50 bob) and it is already disappearing.
Data is disabled. I get sms's I never subscribed to download ringtones,
Have not tried downloading a ringtone since 2011 - as the mobile os is not
supported -- was never reimbursed, never received responses for 3 or more
failed downloads. Realized then not to trust the sms service providers on
these these telcos.
SOS!
