Hi,
I believe since Safaricom is making money from all this wrong entries they have
no incentive to implement the phonebook access capability on the MPesa menu
which MJ promised to have available last year.
Can you imagine the nightmare if you send money to Nairobi City Councils pay
bill number instead of Kenya Powers? It would most likely take months to get
a reversal, the phonebook lookup for MPesa and all other money transfer services
must be made compulsory.
As we move into a cashless society such features need to be put in place
including confirmation before transaction is effected.

Hi all,
Good question Barrack and Bob. My catch on this is that when reimbursing money
sent to wron destination the telcos have already done a transaction which is
chargeable. To mitigate wrong entries, the telcos require one to be careful on
making the entries for the numbers and that is why when using these services
(e.g MPESA, ZAP) one manually type the intended recipient's mobile phone
number. I'm glad they do not charge for reimbursing.
