A bit more related to this is the concept of open source innovation (and
its interesting to see Microsoft is stepping up to it also - the firm you
would least expect). The market is slowly moving into service provision
over app sales, and that's why also Azure is becoming a bigger deal for
Microsoft nowadays. That is where also IoT steps in.

When you open source not only do you welcome into your company a greater
innovative capacity from the community, but you also enhance on openness /
transparency and build products that the markets trust and feel they were
involved in.
