Warm Greetings!
We had a "Huge" discussion on this mtandao on the BlockChains this month and reflecting on it as a benchmark, we cannot confidently say that there is an ICTWise Community to be an advisor on this subject matter.
Yes we had great insights but ...it doesn't feel as though we have the nail on it in terms of enough ICTWise resource people to wade with through this topic and execution if warranted.
I still do not understand why and Kenya is touted to be the Silicon Savannah????
What this might do is then leave the most trusted man financial-wise in Kenya - the Governor to the edge of his seat - to protect the economy. Yes, still the best crew for this is the ICTWise.
Enjoy the catch up here on else-where;

Be blessed.

Good point. There is a
clear and present danger of missing out on a huge
opportunity in this space because of the 'wait &
see' attitude from the regulator.
The ICT Community MUST
find a way to engage positively with them to make sure that
they understand where we are coming from and we understand
where they are coming from. Without this engagement we will
continue to speak over each others' heads.
On Saturday when I
posed the question on Blockchains to the Governor I got
the distinct feeling there was a huge discomfort on this
issue. I have huge respect for the Governor and I hope he
will rise to the challenge. Our very leadership in the tech
space depends on it.
That idea of
Blockchains discussion at the IGF is becoming increasingly
important.

Hi Ali,
While the
governors point is well noted, shall we continue burying
our
heads in the sand or do we
adopt a more pro-active approach towards
the bit-coin issue.

Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor
Patrick Njoroge has again warned that
the
country must go slow in adopting digital
currencies.
This
is because Kenya currently doesn’t have systems and
capabilities to
handle virtual currencies. The CBK is yet
to come up with proper policies
to
regulate these form of currencies such as Bitcoins, also
known as
currency of the Internet.
