Just read in today's dailies that Airtel has woken up and smelt the coffee - and now offered to providing 'free' internet service to primary schools.
Apologies to our international readers who may google but still never get the translation  - Ukichelewa chelewa utapata mwana si wako  :-)
walu.

Were the other providers requested if they could provide similar services ...free or not? It should be a level playing ground.Even if Safaricom stepped up and offered the services (for free), I wonder what obligations they would expect the govt to make in the future.

Warm Greetings Phyllis,
Thank you for the updates. It is exciting to just imagine little fingers have their digital world opened up.
On the internet component, is this commitment you've cited open to any other provider who would be interested to commit to give free internet?
Secondly is this offer similar to the free facebook internet discussion that was in this community aka net neutrality discussions?

Have a blessed day.
Regards/Wangari

 @Walu

 Safaricom made the commitment and will offer the internet free of charge from their funds.

@Phyllis
This is good progress - even though some of us seem to have missed the train on this one :-)
walu.NB: Just curious though. Safcom to offer internet to all schools...I dont speak for Airtel, Orange or other service providers...but wearing their hat I would  ask why (only) Safcom?
