The Fund for Internet Research and Education (FIRE) Programme will
host a *Grant
Proposal Development Workshop* in Djibouti from *2-3 June 2014.*

The workshop will be held during the *Africa Internet Summit* *(AIS)
2014*and the *AFRINIC
20 Meeting.* This event, which takes place from 25 May – 6 June, is hosted
by AFRINIC, AFNOG, Djibouti Telecom under the high patronage of the
Ministry of Communications in charge of Posts and Telecommunications.



About the Workshop

The goal of this workshop is to provide participants with the skills
required to create effective grant proposals to seek funding from potential
donors. The two-day workshop covers a range of topics relevant to grant
proposal writing as well as a session on how to apply for FIRE grants and
awards.

The workshop will be recorded and made available as a free webinar on
http://www.fireafrica.org/ for the benefit of anyone looking for the
enhancement of their grant proposal writing skills.

 Interested African ICT organisations can apply to participate in this
Workshop by sending a summary of their project to the FIRE Programme
Secretariat at  fireprogramme at afrinic.net <fireprogram at afrinic.net> no
later than 5 May 2014, 00:00 UTC.

The workshop is free and will be conducted in French.

Due to budgetary constraints, we will not be able to provide translation
services.

Transport and accommodation costs as well as basic living-expenses are
covered by the FIRE Programme.



*Building human capacity in Francophone, Lusophone and isolated or
post-conflict regions*

The FIRE Programme encourages innovative approaches to Internet
infrastructure development in Africa by using the small grants funding
mechanism to enable local organisations to implement creative ICT
initiatives. FIRE programme recipients are encouraged to share their
knowledge and learned experiences in their local communities so that others
can benefit from applying innovative solutions to their unique challenges.

A key benefit for FIRE programme project teams is the exposure to a wider
group of potential partners and donors, as the success of each initiative
may bring projects to a larger scale.

Writing effective grant proposals is a critical skill for any team wishing
to bring their initiative to the next level.

The communities located in Francophone, Lusophone, isolated and
post-conflict regions are encouraged to apply for this workshop in order to
receive support for capacity building development to improve the quality of
future project proposals that will be presented to potential donors,
sponsors, or investors.

un *Atelier
de Formation sur la Rédaction de Demande de Subventions *à Djibouti du* 2
au 3 juin 2014 *

Cet atelier se déroulera lors du* Sommet Africain de l’Internet *et de la*
réunion d'AFRINIC 20 *organisés par AFRINIC, AFNOG et Djibouti Telecom sous
le haut patronage du Ministère de la Communication, en charge des Postes et
des Télécommunications, et se  déroulant du 25 mai au 06 juin 2014.



A propos de l’Atelier

L'objectif poursuivi par cet atelier est de conférer aux participants des
conseils, des outils et des informations utiles pour la préparation d'une
bonne demande de subventions aussi bien auprès du Programme FIRE que
d'autres bailleurs de fonds.

L’Atelier servira à l'amélioration des qualités rédactionnelles des
porteurs de projets souhaitant soumettre une demande de subventions et sera
enregistré pour faire servir d’outil pédagogique en ligne publié et
accessible gratuitement sur le site du Programme FIRE:
http://www.fireafrica.org/ .

Les individus, entreprises, organisations, centres de recherches, situés
sur le continent africain et intervenant dans le domaine des Technologies
de l’information et de la Communication, peuvent manifester leur intérêt à
participer à cet Atelier en envoyant un résumé de leur projet au
Secrétariat du Programme FIRE à fireprogramme at afrinic.net, au plus tard le
5 mai 2014, à 00:00 GMT.

L’Atelier est gratuit et se déroulera en français.

Les frais de présence à cet atelier seront pris en charge par le Programme
FIRE.

Le Programme FIRE encourage les approches novatrices pour le développement
de l'Infrastructure Internet en Afrique via ses mécanismes de financement
que sont les Subventions et les Prix et ce pour permettre aux organisations
locales de mettre en œuvre leurs initiatives innovantes dans le secteur des
TIC.

Les bénéficiaires du Programme FIRE sont encouragés à partager leur
connaissance et leur expérience apprises au niveau de leur communauté
locale afin que d'autres organisations/personnes soient en mesure de tirer
profit de ces solutions innovantes en les appliquant à leurs propres
problématiques.

La rédaction d'une demande concrète et précise de subvention est une
compétence critique à acquérir par chaque organisation souhaitant amener
son initiative ou son projet à un niveau supérieur.

Les organisations, situées dans les pays francophones, lusophones, dans les
régions isolées ou sortant d’un conflit armé, sont particulièrement
encouragées à soumettre leur candidature pour participer à cet Atelier.
Elles pourront ainsi recevoir un appui en matière de développement de
capacités afin d’améliorer la qualité de leur projet à soumettre à des
futurs bailleurs de fonds, parrains et/ou investisseurs.
