[kictanet] ICT BOARD - ANY LESSONS TO LEARN

@Mbugua,

Quite some harsh verdict I suppose. Ofcourse ICT Board had its weakness - like we all do.  But I think they did some things right and we shouldn't burn their house in totality but rather seek to improve (soulds like the ongoing political argument of "get rid of IEBC vs "streamline it"?) I am for streamlining institutions rather than burying them because of "this and that".

Whats more, if most of us  think Dr. Ndemo did a good, he must have done / actualized it through the Kenya ICT Board (e.g Idea of TEAMs, Konza City, KENET, Govt Shared Services, etc).  Ofcourse  I get the constant vibe that ICT Board over-concentrated on the overseas markets at the expense of local markets/developers/SMES in the ICT Industry.

Something for the new ICT Authority to work on.

walu.

Barrack

Maybe it is. But it is something I have stated repeatedly here when I was questioning the rationale of endless visits to the US instead of using that money to bring venture capitalists to come and meet innovators here.

If an organization does well it does well and it is recognized. If it doesn't, it should be criticized and many blogs have criticized this organization to no end.

Actually, when Kukubo left, I said the board should be disbanded or overhauled completely and every position advertised to be filled competitively.

And this is not from reading articles, it is from first hand experience.

True, some good people exist but everything rises and falls with leadership.

J.
