[kictanet] kictanet Digest, Vol 71, Issue 65

James,

You answered your own question when you mentioned that your son shows you things about your iPad that even you did not know about all of which I expect he learned on his own and not in class.

Mark Zurkerberg is a self trained developer and Bill Gates only had basic introduction to computers which is most likely because he was introduced to computers later than Mark.

I suggest you find results of the "hole in the wall" experiment that was done by the founder n NIIT in India to get an appreciation of a childs ability to learn on its own and how they actually change a society.  The hand washing campaign was successful because it was targeted at children in primary schools and went home and enforced the discipline in their parents and older siblings.

So this what I think we need is a two pronged approach where you have the computers introduced to both the standard 1 and form 1 students, @Walu, @Ndemo and @Hare how do we present our case to the powers that be and soon?

Regards

I highly think giving laptops to class 1 kids is not bad at all.My son uses my ipad very well and in most cases he teaches me new things. He is 4 yrs but he started using it when 2 yrs 9 months. My main problem is "who will teach the kids from village schools since even majority of teachers including their principals are computer illiterate?
