Fiona,
I want to appreciate your sentiments and seek to clarify that the meeting was NOT secret and neither seemingly secret.
ITU did organize this workshop as a follow-up of another workshop for regulators in the region and they are the ones who did send out the invitations. ATU was only asked to co-host and facilitate the logistics of the local arrangements. The support of CCK was sought to assist with some logistical arrangements and of course attend as regulators.
When you showed up at Hilton this afternoon, none of the people you met did not know you nor the organization you represent (at least that is what I was made to understand). Bad practice in our country....
When you called me, I had just arrived at Hilton and immediately tried to investigate the case and what I hear is that nobody asked the security to usher you out of the meeting room and that they only requested you to come out so that they could get more information. I do not know exactly what happened....
We apologize as co-conveners for what you have reported because they ought to have let you in as there was nothing secret.

Alice

Hallo All,

I have a question to CCK/MOIC (Government of Kenya)

It turn out that the ITU/ATU and CCK have had a discussion in the last one week at The Hilton Hotel Nairobi on Frequency Spectrum pricing models and Digital migration that is 'seemingly secret'. I use the phrase 'seemingly secret' because when one of the regional regulators asked to meet with TESPOK and we showed up at the meeting an hour ago; ATU/CCK sent Hilton Security to kick us out of the discussion like there was something we were not suppose to hear.

Can ITU/ATU/CCK please clarify what was being discussed that the rest of industry should not know about? What is wrong with TESPOK sitting in as an observer if we don't qualify make any contribution to the discussion?

If our regulator and partners take to kicking industry out of such discussions where does that leave all the progress on stakeholder interaction we are striving to have especially in view of the new constitution?

Kind regards
