[kictanet] Longonot Erruption

I think I had read somewhere that they had evacuated people living in the surrounding areas some time last week.
What was interesting was the debate- one group said it was not geological movements and that is was simply effects of the heavy rains while another said it was...
I wonder how well financed these organs are to handle any disasters.....and if they are, how they equip themselves. And how have they adopted the use of ICT for disaster preparedness? I really wonder!

  Subject: [kictanet] Longonot Erruption

There have been reports in media about a looming eruption of Mt. Longonot, including localised earthquakes with the ground having huge cracks. Today morning, the Mai Mahiu - Naivasha road has been closed due to huge cracks on the road rendering it impassable.

My question is whether the country's disaster organs are prepared to handle the disaster, and what can be expected from the eruption, in terms of area affected, and earth movements and their locality?
