[kictanet] [EANOG] The East Africa Internet Exchange Point-- Where are we?

Hi,
Forgive my ignorance, but where is the demand for this?
What purpose would an EAIXP serve that existing IXPs do not? If I already
have access to a local exchange and the EAIXP is in another country, why
would I send my traffic via that route?
