Dear Listers,
The United Nations Human Rights Council’s passed a Resolution on the
“promotion, protection, and enjoyment of human rights on the
Internet.” <https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:U5wQ6OQskWkJ:www.regeringen.se/content/1/c6/19/64/51/6999c512.pdf+&hl=en&gl=ke&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjgGi8sV5uUGx-XJGouAV8OPxNDg1An9zUIMmC2Aqzmg3W5ucofFuqAP0cg8ePP4_AdL7iErxNnBiZxw2OBxICqpVhnhTUuRpze6AFp_mbP9QPcwafgH_ggqh1G1YDeYxX0zHm6&sig=AHIEtbREpdgLN5hlvB3Qfd_OhBojF2pSfA&pli=1>
The Resolution affirms that the same rights that people have offline must
also be protected online, and recognizes the global and open Internet as a
driving force for development. It also calls upon all States to promote and
facilitate access to the Internet. The 20th Session of the United Nations
Human Rights Council was held in Geneva on 18 June – 6 July 2012.
