This is truly amazing that we have all this amount of optic Fiber coverage
across the nation.

Is there a possibility of knowing how each and sundry can take advantage of
this huge
resource? Who can take it up..? What are the terms and conditions...? How is
it managed..?
Where can one find this info...?

Dear Fiona

Many thanks for this.

Following up on Yawe's point, can we get a PDF map of NOFBI to the list? I
had asked PS Ndemo for this at the Kenya IGF.

Many thanks if you can assist with this.

Yours, Rigia

Hi Fiona,

Thanks for keeping us posted on the progress on the process of leveraging
NOFBI, I would like to just raise 2 issues

1. In your report point 2 mentions government and licensed operators, how
can the consumers participate?

2. Is it possible to get an up to date layout of NOFBI?

(NOFBI)

Hallo Listers,

Other the last couple of days there has been growing interest in the status
of the government build National Optical Fiber Backbone Infrastructure.
Since last week PS Dr. Ndemo and his team at the MOIC have been engaging
operators in discussions to find the best way to maximize value on the
government built NOFBI infrastructure. In summary the outcome of the
meetings has been that;
1. NOFBI is accessible to all interested licensed operators who shall
provide the last mile solutions to their customers.
2. A management committee comprising of various operators and government has
been put in place to finalize on suitable pricing and ensure as many people
as possible have access to the backbone infrastructure and ensure that it
is eventually self-sustainable.
3. The management committee shall share quarterly reports on the progress

It is the hope of all those involved that the use of this shared platform
will be a contributing factor to the reduced costs of internet access.

Kind regards,
