Hi,

It may be obvious to you by now that this is one of the issues that
seems to create a "great rift valley" between the ICT Consumers
Association on one hand and the "Consumers Federation of Kenya"
(CofeK) - re; http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/InsidePage.php?id=2000032337&cid=15
. It may explain why the two cannot to working together in the
"interest of the consumer" assuming they have the same "ICT consumer?"
in mind.

That said, are the Minister's actions in tandem with the law? Our PS,
Bitange Ndemo sits on the Board that made a recommendation which the
Minister is said to have squashed. Maybe Dr. Bitange Ndemo can tell us
both sides of the story.

Is it true (as some have insinuated elsewhere) that members of the CCK
Board may have been induced by an unhappy ICT service provider who was
unhappy with the DG's pro-consumer efforts? The CCK Board Members in
question would be 1. Philip Okundi (Chairman), 2. PS Joseph Kinyua
(Finance), 3. PS Bitange Ndemo (Information), 4. PS Francis Kimemia
(Internal Security), 5. Alice Munyua, 6. Eunice Ombati, 7. Joe Kamau,
8. Kiriithi Njogu, 9. Matei Ndeti, 10. John Omo (CCK legal officer)
and Mr Charles Njoroge (CCK Director-General). From the composition of
the Board, it would be interesting to see how far such an argument
would go.

***Apologies for cross-posting BUT the topic has the two sides (CofeK
& ICT Consumers) giving opposing views on the two lists….NOTE: Both
groups speak for "the consumer". Something is clearly amiss here.
