Eric,
Thanks very much for a very realistic observation of the African situation and I trust our fellow Africans got your message right.
Good weekend to all as the world celebrates the Obama's impact globally.

Akich,
While i uphold the participation of the Almighty in the affairs of men on earth, i think in Africa we make God work "overtime", to quote a friend mine.
If only we could work as much as we pray and lay emphasis on God, Africa would have changed big time. Americans have applied themselves to create a system that allows Obama to emerge as a prepared leader by God. We need to apply ourselves to the development and growth of institutions that establish and uphold the state in Africa so that the already God given leaders in Africa would emerge and not be kept in obscurity by our own undoings. The amount of time Africans spend praying and sitting in church auditoriums without much action afterwards is unbelievable, for me, the more closer you are to God, the more productive you should be.
Finally, i think we need to vacate this mentality of one day, suddenly a saviour would emerge and everything would change. Change is a process and we need to work towards it. Obama did not suddenly show up, read the 200 plus years of effort and commitment to a cause that we see today. Lets work at building our institutions and allow the rule of law to work.

Hi Guys,
In my view, the content of Obama's message was great, it matters less whether
he read it from the telepromoters or memorised from his mind, he looked
natuaral and at peace with both his soul and conscience. We should remember Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr gave
memorable speeches many years back when such technologies did not exist. Thousands of miles
away from the Land of Opportunity (US), Mahatma Gandhi did the same in India
while sometimes barefooted after losing his home made shoes after a train
journey. Mandela did the same just a decade ago in South Africa, while those who
were keen listeners received the soft words spoken by Mother Teresa.
These are men and women besides other great world leaders whom have been
gifted to be used by God. I humbly believe God is using Obama to reshape
America (how interesting) and the rest of the world. When you have the most
powerful man on earth declaring you do not need mighty army to win war
against the enemy, it means he knows where the power is coming from.
Let us trust one day, God shall present us (NOT GIVEN) with a leader in
Kenya who will inspire Kenyans to have a common purpose and move forward as
one people.
