Competition for Travel Awards to Canadian Conference in June: Deadline 25
April 2006

The African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) in collaboration with the
Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) may be in a position to award a limited
number of  grants to African evaluators to attend the CES Conference in
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada from June 4th to 7th  2006
(see www.evaluationcanada.ca and follow link on left to Conference 2006).

AfrEA and CES are seeking a mixture of experienced evaluators who can
speak with authority on evaluation issues in Africa, and new evaluators
who can benefit from the exposure of interacting with other evaluators
from another continent.

The awards would cover the costs of conference and workshop registration,
air travel, accommodation, meals, incidentals, transportation to the
airport, and visas.

IF you adhere to the following criteria, we invite you to apply:

1.                   You live in one of CIDA?s 14 eligible African
countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali,
Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania or Zambia;
2.                   You are an evaluation specialist or a post-graduate
student in a field relevant to M&E, and with an interest in pursuing a
career in evaluation;
3.                   You are able to arrange for the necessary travel
documents in time (approval will only be given in early May);
4.                   You have the ability to function in English or French
(please note: the majority of the conference will be in English);
5.                   You do not have any other source of funds to attend
the Conference;
6.                   You can commit to actively participating in all
aspects of the Conference program and are open to sharing your
perspectives at the Conference on evaluation in your region in Africa;
7.                   You will participate in a workshop to plan for
further CES/AfrEA collaboration; and
8.                   You will share your experience with others upon your
return home.

supporting documentation.

YOUR APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED TO admin at afrea.org  AND
travel_award at evaluationcanada.ca  by 25 April 2006. No late applications
will be accepted.

All successful applicants will be notified in early May.  A travel agent
will assist in making arrangements.  Most delegates will arrive in
Charlottetown by Saturday, June 3rd and depart Friday, June 9th.
