The service has also been used by the famous e-citizen platform. </div><div><br clear="none"></div><div>To me as a developer, all these use cases of such data are amazing and the innovations around that are endless. Recently, some countries are requiring social media sites to verify national identification details of individuals as they create accounts in order to stop/reduce "fake news" and "hate speech".</div><div><br clear="none"></div><div>I am aware that the process of collecting, storing and processing data costs money, however, recently IPRS introduced a charge of Kshs. 5 per search/verification which in my view is exorbitant compared to what other web services are charges like SMS. This has the potential to hinder "Data-Driven Innovation". With such a high price, such a service is going to remain a privilege to the well established companies while the rest of the population will be blocked from it. </div><div><br clear="none"></div><div>My guess is that IPRS did little or no public consultations in setting up the price, then what happen's to the Identification Numbers we have right now after the Huduma Number goes full blown? Does it mean companies will have to do the verification again? How small to medium companies will afford that?
