Every year, 3 May is set aside to celebrate the fundamental principles of press
freedom, to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from
attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost

Press Freedom Prize, which honours a person, organization or institution that
has made an outstanding contribution to the defence and, or promotion of press
freedom anywhere in the world, and especially when this has been achieved in

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the African Union’s Agenda
2063, which seeks to promote “an Africa of good governance, democracy, respect
