<div dir="ltr" class="gmail_msg">An organisation like Gates Foundation has goals that benefit greatly when they have as many publishing mechanisms as possible. I look at it from a game-theoretic perspective. If, as a high-status funding source, they can send a signal to scientists that their work will have no other barrier to access than access to the Internet, then whatever is published there is signal in favour of the idea that scientists and students from all walks of life will get to learn without any unnecessary costs.</div><span>
