<br>
Ubuntu (Linux) has a version for phones - still 'beta', although two<br>
(Chinese) phone manufacturers are already shipping phones and tablets<br>
with Ubuntu installed. This is totally free and open source, with no<br>
ulterior motive behind it.<br>
<br>
I, for one, will buy my next phone with Ubuntu - and then have<br>
consistency across all platforms - desktop, laptop, tablet, phone, and<br>
IoT devices.<br>
<br>
Note that Android is also built on a Linux base - but with Google's<br>
proprietary 'bits' on top.<br>
