I did say that if its technology there are other offerings in the market better than Mpesa. The point is that MPESA is an ecosystem painstakingly built over many years. Surely you don't expect Safaricom to just hand that over do you? Kioko alluded to it when he asked whether Equity is willing to share its network? </div><div><br></div><div>Lets get this straight. Safaricom is already sharing (sort of). Ask the different local Payment Gateways whether they have integrated MPesa into their systems. </div><div><br></div><div>The interoperability issue is very pertinent but it usually takes more than one enterprise. It takes am industry and I'm not surprised if Safaricom is unwilling to open its Crown Jewels for others to exploit - irrespective of whether it makes economic sense or not.</div><div><br><div><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: medium; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; ">Ali Hussein</span></div><div><span style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: medium; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; ">CEO | 3mice interactive media Ltd</span></div><div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: medium; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; ">Principal | Telemedia Africa Ltd</div></div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: medium; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; "><br></div><div style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: medium; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; ">+254 713 601113/ 0770 906375</div><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); "><br></span></div><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); ">"The future belongs to him who knows how to wait." - Russian Proverb</span></div><div><br></div>Sent from my iPad</div><div><br>On Aug 1, 2013, at 3:15 PM, <a href="mailto:snjoro45@gmail.com">snjoro45@gmail.com</a> wrote:<br><br></div><blockquote type="cite"><div><span></span><br><span>The openness in question here is the Mpesa Dealer Network.</span><br><span></span><br><span>Sent from my BlackBerry®</span><br><span></span><br><span>-----Original Message-----</span><br><span>From: Evans Ikua <<a href="mailto:ikua.evans@gmail.com">ikua.evans@gmail.com</a>></span><br><span>Sender: "kictanet" <<a href="mailto:kictanet-bounces+snjoro45=gmail.com@lists.kictanet.or.ke">kictanet-bounces+snjoro45=gmail.com@lists.kictanet.or.ke</a>>Date: Thu, 1 Aug 2013 14:57:53 </span><br><span>To: Simon<<a href="mailto:snjoro45@gmail.com">snjoro45@gmail.com</a>></span><br><span>Cc: KICTAnet ICT Policy Discussions<<a href="mailto:kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke">kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke</a>></span><br><span>Subject: Re: [kictanet] Equity says M-Pesa lines should be open</span><br><span></span><br><span>_______________________________________________</span><br><span>kictanet mailing list</span><br><span><a href="mailto:kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke">kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke</a></span><br><span><a href="https://lists.kictanet.or.ke/mailman/listinfo/kictanet">https://lists.kictanet.or.ke/mailman/listinfo/kictanet</a></span><br><span></span><br><span>Unsubscribe or change your options at <a href="https://lists.kictanet.or.ke/mailman/options/kictanet/snjoro45%40gmail.com">https://lists.kictanet.or.ke/mailman/options/kictanet/snjoro45%40gmail.com</a></span><br><span></span><br><span>The Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet) is a multi-stakeholder platform for people and institutions interested and involved in ICT policy and regulation.
