<html><body><div style="color:#000; background-color:#fff; font-family:times new roman, new york, times, serif;font-size:12pt">Somebody needs to take the government to court for disenfranchising poor Kenyans who did not have money to go to the nearest dealer to register their SIMs as they needed the money to celebrate Christmas, this is definitely the work of regressive forces who are out to stop the complete implementation of the new constitution especially the section on human rights. <br><br>Exactly how does the government expect those 2.4 million Kenyans, many of who recently registered as voters, will be able to check if they are in the register of the IEBC, this is how they are planning to rig the elections, in addition how will they check the results of their children who recently sat their KCPE and KCSE results if their phones have been turned off.<br><br>I say the government should send money to those people who have not registered their

operators have to date switched off more than 2.4 million unregistered SIM
cards.</span></div>

gathered from mobile operators, a total of 2,408,266 unregistered mobile lines
had, by January 8, been switched off, barely a week after the expiry of the
December 31 deadline.</span></div>

<div class="yiv161432918MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;">Safaricom has disconnected a
total of 1.2 million unregistered SIM cards. Orange and Airtel have
disconnected 520,000 and 365,266 unregistered lines, respectively. YuMobile on
the other hand has switched off 323,000 SIM cards. </span></div>

<div class="yiv161432918MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;">Subscribers whose lines have
been switched off have up to 90 days to register their SIM cards, failing which
their mobile numbers will be withdrawn permanently and subsequently reassigned
to new users. </span></div>
