Annihilated. In 2009, they made a loss of us$60 million. $60 million!!! You do the math - Safaricom - 72% market share. All other players - Airtel included - 28%. Airtel were whipped in the Kenyan market. Mercilessly. All that Airtel did was destroy value in the market with price cuts.And it has barely made a dent on Safaricom.
