Guifi.net <https://guifi.net/en> and Freifunk
<https://www.freifunk.net/> are also interesting examples. Guifi.net
seems to include larger institutions such as universities so can have
experienced technical personnel running the network. Volunteers can help
for last mile connectivity in established communities typically with a
high population density. It seems that B4RN is government subsidized
since costs in sparsely populated areas may be relatively high.
