I believe this is a step in the right direction. My only concern would be the big elephant in the room -Data Privacy and Security. Do we have in place a framework to ensure these are protected from unscrupulous individuals?
We are already seeing the government take positive steps to empower the digital economy through the Integrated Population Registration System (IPRS). This system among other things makes possible to automate the KYC (know your customer) process to enable you access financial services via your mobile phone, G2C services etc.
What the ICT Ministry should do better is engagement and articulation of their vision to the community and Kenyans in general.
