Ebele,
Thanks for the insight into Igbo cultures and traditions. Here too amongst
the Miji Kenda tribes we have had those traditions of female husbands BUT
as you rightly stated it was for the purpose of getting children; we had a
saying as we were growing up "Amenunua kitabu asomewe" literally translated
means "she has bought a book to be read by others!". It is a biological
impossibility for a woman to impregnate another woman! It was understood
that such relationships weren't of a sexual nature rather a symbiotic
relation. There was nothing *gay* in the sense we understand it now.
