Subject: [kictanet] Facebook/TIP OpenCellular workshop for rural access

Good morning!

The iHub, Facebook and Telecom Infra Project (TIP) is excited to announce and invite everyone to the first OpenCellular workshop in Africa on 19th and 20th of June 2017, at iHub in Nairobi, Kenya. The workshop is a two day event, filled with great speakers across many organisations, on the topic of rural access and connectivity, including Facebook, GSMA, USAID, BRCK, Vodafone, Cavium, Keysight, and OpenCellular core team. Detailed agenda can be found at: http:/www.opencellular.ihub.co.ke <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.opencellular.ihub.co.ke&d=DwMGaQ&c=5VD0RTtNlTh3ycd41b3MUw&r=8K8gW6sDWbbYFpaBhfb3kQ&m=1yB6YSztkvy91N9Atym7HbmNwIxsDZCgqifwNvRuYv4&s=eo_bhfWNB8NPRPsjVnwOtFhzSNHOzGAkELZCxls-Zt4&e=>

OpenCellular is an open source hardware and software project designed by Facebook that aims to bring a more affordable wireless access platform to remote areas through utilising the benefits of open source on access technologies. The workshop will bring together the OpenCellular ecosystem, which includes the open-source developer community, mobile network operators, OEMs and regulators for a discussion on connectivity.

This event is for anyone who is interested in rural connectivity. We strongly encourage MNOs, regulators, regional operators, entrepreneurs and vendors to attend. We also recommend that researchers and students from universities and research labs attend. There is lot to learn and contribute to the OpenCellular project.

The workshop is free and open for everyone however, it requires registration. Register here <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__opencellular.ihub.co.ke&d=DwMGaQ&c=5VD0RTtNlTh3ycd41b3MUw&r=8K8gW6sDWbbYFpaBhfb3kQ&m=1yB6YSztkvy91N9Atym7HbmNwIxsDZCgqifwNvRuYv4&s=l-Ijwr7s2eILE2rT2k4Xx59ouWlpljbfn8SEhv8ITUY&e=> for an opportunity to attend the workshop and influence the conversation, policy and technology to get more people online. Please feel free to forward the invitation to others who might be interested.
