[kictanet] Ni.ke hits the Kshs 1 billion (or $9.7m) mark in the premium domain auction of the .ke second level domain launch (Warning: This could be #FakeNews :-) )

Well put Ali. Registering nike.co.ke or Coca-Cola.co.ke is cyber squatting,
and that has been handled well by KENIC's by laws. On the other hand, ni.ke
is not cyber squatting.
Brian, Ali, Abdala et-al, DNS speaking, I don't see how we can sell the A
record of co.ke while the eventual owner will not have control over the
globaly known canonical name www. A lot of traffic would be lost between
the two different entities. The only solution would be for them to federate
among each other. That is an interesting problem.
@collins, No, KENIC did not sell www. KENIC is not involved in selling
domains, (apart from the auction :-) ). Domains are owned on first come
basis. If you register areba.co.ke, KENIC will not even notice.
