[kictanet] Digital Confessions

Dear Mildred,
iHub Research conducted a M&E study on behalf of Karibu Centre, in Thika.
The report will be out next week, and will share a link once it's uploaded.
We will also have an event on April 21st to discuss the study's findings
and what they mean for computers and education of students.

Out of curiosity, what rubbed you the wrong way about the presentation?
There have been a range of studies from various country contexts that have
shown the same. I'd recommend Geek Heresy, by Kentaro Toyama. He was at
Microsoft Research and worked on a lot of EdTech projects in India, many of
which failed. I penned an article recently on the need to stop thinking
that tech, in and of itself, will make up for deficiencies, such as
teachers, electricity etc, and quote some excerpts of his book:

I will keep you posted on the report and event. Good evening.

Regards,
Nanjira Sambuli
