Here is the link to the Tanzanian regulations:
http://www.tanzania.go.tz/egov_uploads/documents/Electronic%20Communication%20Numbering%20and%20Addressing%20regulations%202011.pdf
10. Any public or business entity in Tanzania shall register and use
domains with country’s ccTLD, the dot-tz.
(2) Dot-tz Electronic Communications shall be used for all official
correspondences unless where proved technically not possible.
(3) The Tanzania Network Information Centre (tzNIC) shall serve both as
the technical and administrative Manager of dot-tzccTLD.
Form the above
1. Does it mean it's a MUST for all businesses go register .tz domain, or
they can register at their discretion? My reading is that it's at business
discretion. From the newspaper notice, the reason given for businesses to
register .tz is to "contribute to the national revenue", and not to help
businesses get online. This will make business view this as additional
taxation rather than a value added service.
2. The regulation mandating all "official correspondences" - I assume this
means "government entities correspondence" to be on .tz is highly welcomed.
Regards
