Ali,  how I understood it is that if your phone is NFC enabled, you would
not need the card. You would just swipe the phone. Again, the card is
helpful when you are outside network coverage area, like when you travel
abroad.

Therein, would be an advantage. For now there are times when paying through
M-pesa is charged and it is quite inconvenient to send an SMS to find out
the charges.
