Dear Ebele,
Cheza Sports Academy - http://chezasports.co.ke/ is a social enterprises
that is innovative and has an impact despite being under-funded / under
appreciated.
This academy mobilizes children from poor and rich backgrounds for
specialized soccer training.Parents who are well off pay more for their
children to be in the academy than parents from poor backgrounds. Every
Sunday, the children get to visit each other and get to learn basic life
skills despite the varied economic backgrounds. This year, the academy took
2 kids to Dana Cup International in Denmark, One of the most prestigious
youth international soccer event. The most interesting part is the fact
that children together with their parents fund-raised to make the Denmark
Trip a success. The players are children and youth aged between 3 and 19
years - http://chezasports.co.ke/players
The academy employs 3 full-time coaches who are mostly from poor economic
background. The academy does not have any external funding. It relies on
players fees and directors contributions
