[kictanet] Taifa Laptop

I hear the "special software" is MS Office Students Edition. How that is
perceived to be better than the FOSS versions beats me. Given that MS
Office is a MS Windows-based suite, it therefore means Taifa Laptop runs
some version of Windows.
I believe the students can get very good hardware for that price and run
FOSS software on them (something like Edubuntu) and that will be much more
value for money than Taifa. But perhaps KU wants their ROI from the
assembly plant and what other way to get that than force their product down
the throat of the students?
