James

With respect. I disagree. The content that trends the most in Kenya is very local indeed. #KOT anyone? :-)

To add onto that. The most viewed programmes in Kenyan TV? (Apart from Premier League of course!!) :-) Are:-

1. Papa Shirandula
2. Mother in - law
3. Afrosinema (Read Naija)

And other locally produced content.

There is huge opportunity. My good friend, Mwaniki Mageria has started an online platform for Riverwood (Yes a play on River Road and Hollywood). More needs to be done.

Thanks & Regards

Ali Hussein

You'll find that if I write a story about A, he'll never even bother to share it but if an International site does it, it's a real honour to them and they'll share the hell out of it. Also, even just news consumption. It's always better if it's foreign. A lot of traffic also goes to social networks and porn sites which we really don't have here.

How are we promoting local content online and who is responsible for ensuring that we have more local content being consumed by Kenyans online?
