[kictanet] A Way Forward with Konza Project Discussion

First Brian,
Can I be frank? I missed the ICT community and do not force me to explain myself. You remember how active I was pre-government.  But I did learn a lot in government and I will encourage more of you to do a stint in public service. We need the ICT brains from within [and do not ask why didn't you stay, I did 3 years try it :-), it is a rewarding experience if you choose to look at the positive] but I can guarantee you I remained a stickler for perfection and detail. I learnt patience but I am still the same old Nyaki and you will see a lot of me going forward. Would be nice to organize a drink and this is my suggestion how.
1. I have spoken to the Master Developers of  Konza (MDP2) about a possible moderated discussion on the Konza project, the vision, the progress, where we are and the role of the ICT community.
2. Based on this discussion after one week either moderated by our dear Walu or Prof Waema or GG or Muriuki Mureithi  (not me to avoid conflict of interest issues) we can consolidate our views in a Report like we used to which we submit to the Authority etc.
3. The basis of this Report would then be a face to face discussion (the drinks and bitings we used to have at Landmark....hoping kina Joe Mucheru, Alice Munyua, Edith Adera, yourself, Walu, Tim Waema, Barrack Otieno, Muraya, Muriuki Mureithi etc will all turn up. This can be an opportunity for the Konza team to engage you all and then discuss your suggestions and their own.
Doesn't that sound like a plan. They are busy now but I can guarantee you they will consider it.
Best always,
Nyaki

Dear Nyaki,

I would like to go on record here in recognising and appreciating the
contribution you have made to the ICT community in Kenya and especially the
Konza project. I remember you lamenting a few month after coming back from
"majuu" how you came back with so much psyche to be involved in developing
the country but no one seems to be giving you an opportunity.

I cheered madly when you were appointed as acting CEO at Konza because
after working closely with you on a number of KICTANET projects (when we
were much more externally active ;) I had come to know you as a
no-nonsense, serious, focused, professional and very articulate person. I
anticipated that you would encounter a lot of challenges working inside
government because these kind of people generally tend to attract a lot of
opposition, resentment and downright antagonism. But you have made  it thus
far. Kudos to you Catherine! I wish you well and encourage you to remain
engaged in furthering this great nation's future.

Very best regards,

Mblayo
