hi edith

it is a good program. i try to see how can kenyans benefit from the program, then i remember that what we are facing in northern kenya is probably out of ignorance especially when it comes to addressing food security. example if we are facing a cultural block in development especially in northern kenya then it becomes very difficult to have a nomad change to farming, or trade there cattles. with a program as such it could help address the issues of agricultural information asymmetry concerning agricultural markets, weather infomation and food reserve.

Listers,

Sharing a story, written by Reuters Foundation, of one of our projects in Uganda that is transforming the way communities receive climate/weather information to make critical farming decisions. Digital and non-digital technologies are being explored.

This goes to show the power of ICTs/mobile technology, which can go beyond “money transfer” needs to addressing food insecurity, an issue that we’re currently grappling with as a country.

COMESA has shown interest in scaling the system through one of their ongoing climate change adaptation projects in the region. For more details see the link  http://www.trust.org/item/20140206191047-2fyx7/?source=hptop
