[kictanet] Wanjiku's take: Paul Kukubo, Victor Kyalo,

Can we have a competitive and thorough process to replace Kukubo. Half of
the people working there should leave with him. The Kenya ICT Board is not
a cash cow, it is a body that should be staffed with serious performers who
understand their mission.

We need to understand ICT does not and is not confined to mobile and mobile
applications. We need to develop software development, we need to focus on
green energy, we need to talk about nanotechnology and the like. In other
words, we need to totally reengineer the business process of the KICTB.

I have always been highly critical of the CEO's penchant for taking plane
rides across the globe ostensibly to market Kenya when it would be cheaper
to invite the Peter Thiel's and Pierre Omydar's of this world here to meet
a large group of techies.

I have also been critical of the staff's penchant for behaving as if they
exist to be served and not to serve Kenyans. We need proper competitive
processes to be applied to staff these positions. Let them be appraised by
their job description and what they have achieved and equally account for
these trips they are always making to one conference or the other. Can we
be told how the country benefitted?

We laud Kukubo for founding the KICTB but not for allowing it to become
what it has become. We need to clean house.

James
