Subject: Re: [kictanet] Stakeholders Forum on SIM card Registration Regulations

Mr. Wambua,

I recently watched a feature on K24 on how people are mugged in Uhuru Park that indicated that the USSD wizards used some Telcos to help with SIM card registration can allow one to update the registration details of a previously registered SIM card with new information.

The journalists had laid a trap with a new phone and SIM card, only to find their SIM card was already registered with another persons information which made it difficult to follow up with the police.

This means that someone can overwrite a genuine SIM card registration with new info.

Please have your concerned team verify this and perhaps you can add some enforcements around this.
