John,

Agreed. hope that one of the progressive Governors will pick and run with it.

Once when speaking to a Safaricom manager incharge of community/govt apps, i underscored the opportunities to reach esp. farming communities with a killer app such as this one. If you get it right, the transformation would reach the levels of Mpesa or surpass.

Hope someone is listening.

Edith

Hello All,

What the Nigerian Minister has achieved is not an easy task- Especially that of shifting mindsets of farmers from subsistence farming to agri-business. Such a mindset is critical for sustainability of mAgric solutions if that's important. Mfarm, Icow, M-shamba etc may not scale and grow to sustainable enterprises if the mindset of agribusiness is not entrenched enough.

Given that agriculture is now a devolved function, it should interest us to see which of the county governments get the cue. Am thinking such progress is more achievable at a county specific level.

... My 20cents.

Best regards

Listers,

Nigerian Agriculture Minister, Dr Akinwumi Adesina (former VP of AGRA), has been named Forbes African Person of the Year for his reforms to the country's farming sector. He has made use of ICTs to transform how inputs are procured, cutting out corrupt deals, and shifting mindsets towards agriculture as a business.

Very transformative indeed! In Kenya, we need to move away from politics, roll up sleeves and work!
