Call to East African hubs/labs to get involved in the Agri-Hack Championship
From 4 to 8 November 2013, the Technical Center for Agricultural and
Rural Cooperation (CTA), the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal
Resources (MINAGRI), Rwanda, and other partners will organize an
international conference on ICT for Agriculture (ICT4Ag) in Kigali. A
regional hackathon on agriculture (dubbed Agri-Hack Championship) is
planned as one of the key activities that will run in parallel to the
conference.
The objectives are:
* to showcase the potentials of ICT applications in
agriculture at the ICT4Ag conference;
* to support the development of ICT innovations and
entrepreneurship in agriculture, especially by youth.
The event is a pilot experience and focuses only on Eastern Africa.
Private and public sector run innovation, entrepreneurship
hubs/communities from that region are invited to express interest in
being partners nominating and supporting teams through the event and
its follow-up. Rewards include participation in the ICT4Ag Conference,
cash prizes and incubation opportunities for the finalization of
applications developed. Details on the event and how to apply can be
found here:
http://cta.int/en/component/**cck/?view=item&id=410<http://cta.int/en/component/cck/?view=item&id=410>(and
in the file attached).
Key dates:
- Hubs/labs need to apply to get involved and nominate teams by 05
September.
- Selection by hubs/labs of the team which will go to the Finals in
Kigali: by 02 October.
We encourage you to apply yourself (hubs/labs), and share this information.
Thank you/Regards
----
