I wonder how much the underlying realtime facial recognition infrastructure
costs and the interface to the various systems such as registrar of persons
and registrar of motor vehicles.

Considering this is probably running on proprietary platforms designed to
withstand sophisticated attacks, I'm not entirely surprised by that high
cost.
