Something tells me that they could have used the open data to understand the demographic dynamics before the launch. 1M TV is not a small and one must conduct studies to understand the target market.

But it is not a wise use of resources, regardless of how rich you are. Like gold plated bathroom faucets, it is just "conspicuous consumption"! Reminds me of Dallas in the 1980s.
