[kictanet] Huawei picked for Sh6bn fibre optic deal

Daktari,

thanx for answering on behalf of e-Gov.  Your response does sound sensible - except for the fact that we do have many suppliers locally who can do what Huawei are doing.   Wananchi, Jamii, AccessKenya all them do have the experience of burying, splicing and activating fiber...

But then again, we all seem to like things foreign :-)

Michuki,
Although this was funded through e-gov, it is actually NOFBI extensions
covering the 13 Counties that were not covered in the phase 1 of NOFBI.
It will also cover loops to create stability from frequent cuts.  Its main
objective is to provide Broadband to all counties before the County
Governments are in place.  IFMIS must be operational in every County
otherwise most Governors will end up in Jail.

Eventually we shall need Fibre to most cell sites if we have to get a
robust LTE network.

Regards

Ndemo.
