Daktari,

Thank you for the clarification on the issue of free to air channels I will be able to verify the compliance in a few days as my subscription expires.

On the issue of us importing STBs there is still an issue that needs to be resolved as concerns access to the signals especially since all the digital signal distributors are scrambling their signal.

As there a directive from either you Ministry or CCK that requires that all the free to air channels are not scrambled as only if this is enshrined in the signal distributors contract will there be an opportunity for others to import/assemble STBs.

When I bought my Startimes STB they insisted that I must take up one of their subscription packages which then means that my agreement with them is that I shall subscription client meaning that they are free to decide whether to give me the free to air channels or not.

I believe, not being a subscriber, that even DSTV/MultiChoice do you give you the free to air channels when your subscription lapses.

Robert,
Free to Air must remain free.  This is why we need cheaper converters that
the current STBs.  Check the pricing on Internet.  They are as cheap as 5
dollars.  Big operators want expensive STBs in order to accomodate they
conditional access channels.  We need SMEs to bring in the low end DVBT2
STBs.  We are letting the opportunity pass those who need business most.
