Dear All,

For you interest, see below for a link to UNCTADs recently released report
entitled 'Mobile Money for Business Development in the East African
Community'.

Looks like an interesting document in summarising the current state of
mobile money in the region, particularly with respect to policy. Summary
below:

-----
Mobile Money for Business Development in the East African Community: A
Comparative Study of Existing Platforms and Regulations
http://unctad.org/en/Pages/newsdetails.aspx?OriginalVersionID=134

The EAC is a world leader in offering mobile money services and hosts more
than one quarter of all known such systems in Africa. Given the pioneering
role of the EAC in the field of mobile money, advances there are of
particular importance.

The study provides an overview of the current mobile money landscape in the
EAC, describes the status of the regulatory framework in each of the five
EAC countries and makes broad recommendations geared for easing access to
mobile money services, making the tools offered more useful, and protecting
those who use them.

Thanks
Chris
