Subject: [kictanet] End of free Internet

Hi,

The demonstration by Wikipedia is the beginning of the end of free internet access, if I was Dr. Ndemo I would make sure that the open data is brought back home asap otherwise we shall either be paying to access our own data or have it blocked away from us.

Regards

Hey Listers,

Wikipedia has blacked out its English Website as part of a campaign to stop the US House of Representatives and Senate from passing legislation (SOPA and PROTECT IT respectively) which may harm the free and open Internet and inhibit people's access to information online.

It is interesting to note that while the US has been at the forefront of opposing Chinese censorship of the internet, it is now considering legislation that makes it not so different from the Chinese.
