Congrats to Hon. Eng. Okundi for being re-appointed as the CCK Chair. Though in my own wisdom I had assumed you would opt for some Governor position in 2012 ;-)

CCK BOARD CHAIRMAN’S TERM EXTENDED FOR A FURTHER THREE YEARS
Hon.
Eng. Philip O. Okundi has been re-appointed Chairman of the Communications Commission
of Kenya (CCK) Board of Directors for a further three years.
President
Mwai Kibaki has made the appointment vide a Kenya Gazette notice
in accordance with Section 6(1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, Cap 446. The
re-appointment is effective October 25, 2011. Hon. Eng. Okundi was appointed
CCK Board Chairman for the first time in October 2008.
A
seasoned ICT expert, Hon. Eng. Okundi has spent most of his working life in the
ICT sector. He worked at the defunct East African Posts and Telecommunications
Corporation (EAP&TC) in various capacities, rising from a pupil engineer in
1966 to the position of Deputy Director General in charge of telecommunications
in 1974. Following the collapse of the initial East African Community and the
subsequent formation of national telecommunications and postal utilities, he
was appointed Deputy Managing Director of the Kenya Posts and
Telecommunications Corporation in 1977.
He
later on served at the helm of various public sector organizations including
the Kenya Ports Authority (1984-1993), Kenya Broadcasting Corporation
(1993-1997), and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (1997-2001).
Hon.
Eng. Okundi is the immediate former Member of Parliament for Rangwe
Constituency (2003-2007). During his term in the August House, he was a member
of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Communications and Public Works.
He
holds a Master of Science (Msc) in Telecommunications Systems Engineering from
the University of Essex and a BSc in Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering
from the University of Westminster.
Hon.
Eng. Okundi is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya and the UK, a
registered Engineer and a Chartered Electrical Engineer (UK).
In
recognition of outstanding public service, Hon. Eng. Okundi has been decorated
with two state honours: Elder of Burning Spear (EBS) and Head of State
Commendation (HSC).
